DIY Houseplant Planters

Making houseplant planters is one of my favorite things to do. Anywhere you look, you can find something to turn into a planter. I tend to hold on to everyday items because they would make cute planters! Today, we will be using a spam container, but you can use a coffee container, soup cans, tea containers, etc. This craft also makes a great unique gift!

You'll want to start by washing and drying your container of choice. Once you have your container clean, mark two or three drainage holes on the bottom with a pen.

Then pick out a drill bit about 7/32 and drill holes where you've marked them on the bottom.

Next, add some small rocks to the bottom of the container. You'll want them to come up to about ¼ of the container. This step is optional, but I find it helps with drainage.

Then add soil into the container and plant a small plant inside. I went will a baby spider plant for this one.

Water it in, and you have yourself a homemade planter!
